WE SPECIALIZE IN ASSISTING ATTORNEYS AND OTHER PROFESSIONALS IN THE LEGAL FIELD

LEGAL NURSE CONSULTANT:

Our goal

Our goal is to assist attorneys and other professionals in the legal field with the following:

What can a Legal Nurse Consultant do for your case?

Provide Reliable Insight On All Things Medical

A Legal Nurse Consultant can provide expert opinions on medical cases. They analyze health issues, facts, and results to provide advice to legal teams on specific cases. Legal nurse consultants are qualified professionals who can help attorneys better understand the healthcare field and the challenges that healthcare providers (MD/Nurses) experience. Legal Nurse consultants often assist attorneys by giving critical analysis on medical evidence to evaluate the merit of pursuing different types of medical cases.

A Legal Forensic Nurse Consultant (LFNC) can attend medical reviews and examinations, make decisions about the long-term health needs and costs of plaintiffs involved in trials, conduct interviews of patients and research health care literature, statutes, and precedents.

Provide Expert Testimonies in Court Cases

Having the testimony of an expert in court lends a lot of weight to a case. Finding experts in a specialized area or one who is willing to be an expert can require a lot of research. A LFNC can help provide options to the attorneys if they need expert witnesses. Letting a Legal Nurse Consultant handle the interviewing, vetting, checking personal information and status of licensure, etc. can save the attorney a lot of time and money.

A LFNC can also help train an expert witness for the case. While the expert witness may be a medical professional themselves, it is possible that they will be unfamiliar with court procedure and what will be expected of them. Having an LFNC to bridge the gap between the medical and legal worlds will enable expert witnesses to come better prepared to give proper, understandable testimony for the case. To help the expert witness be better prepared, the Legal Forensic Nurse Consultant may hold mock questioning sessions, depositions or trials to prepare the witness for the different kinds of questions and statements that they may be asked to provide answers or insight for in the court session.

Legal Nurse Consultants can also provide expert testimony in a court case if they are an expert in that specific field of the case. For instance – a wrongful death of a newborn. If the RN was a labor/delivery nurse they would likely qualify as an expert for such a case.

Usually, the ultimate decision of which experts are used is left to the attorney, but the ability to help locate, prep them, train them, and assist them by the legal forensic nurse consultant can be invaluable.

Provide Understanding about the Injury and What Caused it

Knowing the true extent of the injury in question and the probable cause are two of the most important facts related to any injury case. A Legal Forensic Nurse like Salli Kae can assist the legal team by providing a deeper understanding of circumstances and conditions related to the injury and its cause. A LFNC can help paint a clear picture of the proximate cause by comparing the evidence of the accident with the injury itself. As well as review the medical histories of everyone involved to better eliminate or pinpoint factors related to health, substance abuse, mental stability, and more.

We streamline medical records for legal clarity because every case deserves precision and care.

Our Applicable Skills:

The life of a practicing nurse is filled everyday with diverse people and varying situations of low to high intensity. In her years as a nurse, Salli Kae has had the opportunity to associate with people from all walks of life, and has developed key communication skills that help her quickly establish professional relationships built on confidence, trust, mutual respect, and understanding with her clients.

Failure to pay attention and follow through on responsibilities can result in injury and death. At SKE & Associates, we take detail awareness very seriously and are careful to monitor, document, and relay all information related to cases to the appropriate people within the required time frames.

One thing that the medical and legal fields have in common is that to get into either, one has to develop the ability to do proper research. Research is key for getting to the bottom of a problem, and to finding a proper answer and solution. SKE & Associates understand how to ask the important questions, locate reliable sources for information, take effective notes, and compile the findings into an usable format for attorneys.

Technology is constantly improving and having a handle on the newest advancements is important if a Legal Forensic Nurse wants to stay ahead of the competition. However, as important as knowing new technology is the need to also be familiar with old technology. Medical records and facilities aren’t always the fastest to update, and having someone with years of experience working with the different machines and medical technology of the last couple of decades is essential to understanding medical histories. With SKE & Associates you get knowledge of new procedures and experience with the old.

One thing that all Legal Nurse Consultants have is a technical knowledge of nursing. However, the amount of experience and knowledge will vary from one to the other depending on their job history. SKE & Associates has close to  2 decades of nursing experience in many different positions and areas.
